Habitat Committee Members are a vital part of our organization, working directly with affiliate staff and volunteers to help further our mission of building simple, decent, affordable housing. As a committee member, you attend meetings on an as-needed basis, interact with like-minded individuals and see real change happening as a result of your contributions!

Construction & Site Selection
Seeks out potential sites, evaluating them based on pricing, quality of land, necessity for infrastructure, and location.
Coordinates the activities of the professional tradesmen, crew leaders and volunteers at the building sites. Maintains the building schedule and monitor volunteer actions to ensure safety and health policies are followed. Compiles the building details and specifications for the home. Establishes relationships with building suppliers, material representatives and construction companies.
Evaluates and verifies applications from prospective home applicants, visits homes and recommends families for approval by the Board of Directors. Provides family support partners for the home-owners.Members of this committee inform, educate, support and communicate with partner families and homeowners on a regular basis. Members counsel partner families on basic issues such as choosing home insurance and handling property taxes. They also provide budgeting or financial counsel, home ownership and maintenance, and direction and ideas for completion of sweat equity requirements.
Responsible for communicating Habitat's ministry and mission to the community in Delaware County and at-large, and for planning and executing activities to raise substantial funds for the purchase of property, necessary infrastructure and supplies to build homes. Oversees researching, writing and pursuing grants from appropriate resources. Writes and distributes press releases to local media, and arranges opportunities for Habitat to share information during local festivals and events.
